A Winter Wander at Sheffield Park

An Autumnal Wander at Sheffield Park

After a stretch of grey, drizzly weather, today we decided to make the most of the sunshine with a walk around Sheffield Park in East Sussex. I’m pretty sure the trees must have been at their peak (as the number of other people who also had the same idea as us surely confirmed), and they were absolutely covered in stunning autumnal colours.

I didn’t manage to get out with my camera as much as I’d have liked over summer. Naturally the sunrises tend to be that much more difficult to get out for being so early in the morning, and work and life and social commitments just seemed to take over for those few weeks. So it felt especially refreshing today to just get out into nature and enjoy a good old wander.

I’ve been watching and reading so many motivational videos and books about creativity recently, and have been feeling particularly desperate to get out and put some of it into practice. No pressure. No specific goals. Just enjoying making images.

I’ve also recently signed up with a photography mentor which I’m really enjoying so far. I’m hoping that will add some accountability and also get some honest and constructive feedback about my images.

Today made me realise how much days like this can reinvigorate and reenergise you into making yourself get out there more often, and the joy of when you actually do. It was honestly one of the most relaxed and enjoyable days I’ve had with a camera in a long time, and I really think I needed it.

Looking forward to carrying that forwards into the end of this year and into 2025.
